Wild elephant valley

    Renowned as a huge natural zoo, Xishuangbanna's rain forest provide a habitat for many rare species of animals, the most famous one is wild elephant.

    Yexianggu or wild elephant valley is allegedly the only place to marvel at these giant animals in Xishuangbanna.

    The valley is situated 47 kilometers north of the city of Jinghong and covers an area of 369 hectares in Mengyang Township. (With hills rolling gently at an altitude ranging between 747 and 1055 meters,) it is covered by dense tropical rain forests, crisscrossed by rivers and streams, and teeming with many endangered species.

    It is said there're still hundreds of wild elephants roaming in the area.

    There is also an elephant training school in the valley where kids get to enjoy elephant performing circus tricks.

    Wild flowers blooming, huge vines gnarling, hard to beat the tropical jungle scenery. Although the chance of encountering wild elephants is second to none, it doesn't hurt a bit of the fun walking the five-kilometer long passageway in the valley.
