It wasn't a good night for Chinese teams. Shanghai Shenhua lost to Suwon Samsung and now face a must-win trip to Kashima on May 5. While Beijing Guoan lost to Ulsan Hyundai.

Shanghai had a positive beginning with some fierce attacks. Their efforts were rewarded in 11th minute when Bulgarian star Yanko Valkanov headed home from close range to give Shanghai the lead.
Suwon leveled in style in the 41st minute. Lee Sang-ho fired a low shot with a cross from right.
The Korean side would take the lead three minutes later when Bae Ki-jong skipped past Du Wei to roll the ball into the goal.
With 13 minutes remaining, Shanghai got a penalty. But Herman Barcos' spot kick was well-saved.
Li Weifeng was sent off with five minutes remaining and the South Koreans hung on to bag three points.
