Special Report: View Solar Eclipse |
Although people in Taiwan were not able to see this morning's total Solar Eclipse, they were able to watch a partial eclipse of the sun.
The partial solar eclipse began at 8:23 Wednesday morning in Taipei. The duration of the partial eclipse was the longest in about half-a-century. By 9:40 a.m. the sun was nearly totally covered, leaving barely a crescent. By 11:00 a.m, the sun was coming out. The whole process lasted about 2 hours 42 minutes.
The last time a total solar eclipse was seen in Taiwan was on September 21st, 1941. Experts say the next time people in Taiwan will have the chance to see a total eclipse of the sun will be in 2027.
