More than 200 home owners have demanded refunds or compensation for their losses. Local authorities are promising to safeguard the legitimate interests and rights of the owners. But some owners are worried that they will not be able to buy a comparable apartment with their refunds because of rising home prices.
The developer of the "Lotus Riverside" compound has been banned from selling housing following the collapse. The local government says it has taken measures against nine people, including the developer, construction contractor and supervisor. Authorities are examining the structure and foundation of the building to find out what happened.
