China has confirmed it stands by UN resolutions barring the DPRK from exporting weapons, including missile parts and nuclear materials. The message came from the Foreign Ministry at its regular Tuesday news briefing. And also just as a US Navy ship continues to monitor a DPRK vessel suspected of carrying weapons.

China repeated its hope for the long-term peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, which includes denucleariztion.

Qing Gang, Spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, "China will strictly follow the related resolutions of the UN Security Council. Meanwhile, we think the related monitoring and examining should also follow the resolutions and the international and national laws."

The spokesman also said China has maintained close communications with the countries involved, including the US, on the Korean Peninsula situation and UN resolutions. And he repeated China's stance on South Korea's proposal for five-party talks on the DPRK's nuclear issue without Pyongyang.

Qing Gang also noted, "China will stick to negotiations and talks. The Six-Party Talks are the best way to achieve the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. China is willing to keep close communications with other countries on specific matters."

China joined a UN Security Council resolution on June 12 widening sanctions to cut off Pyongyang's lucrative arms trade after the North's second nuclear test on May 25th.
