Chinese Olympic Champions
Since 1984錛 87 Chinese athletes have competed in five summer Olympic Games, winning a total of 81 gold medals. DOCUMENTARY presents the specialist sports of these Chinese Olympic Champions and reflects on their lives.
Sandstorms
Every spring, sandstorms sweep across central Asia to Beijing, 1,000 kilometres away. The high winds that carry the sand disrupt the lives of people in the capital, causing inconvenience and sometimes deaths. But it is only the lightest sand that is carried this far. The effects on herdsmen in Inner Mongolia are much more severe.
A Passage to Africa
In 2003, CCTV in association with Hong Kong鈥檚 Phoenix TV launched a full-length documentary series entitled 鈥淎 Passage to Africa.鈥 The 25-member production team started their journey from three directions on the African continent moving toward Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the equator.
Imperial Students
This is the first delegation of students officially sent abroad by the Chinese government more than a century ago. Between 1872 and 1875, the Qing government dispatched 4 groups, in total 120 students, to America. Their average age was only 12. Hence history remembers them by a common title: the Chinese Imperial Students.
Warriors of Ancient Ba Tribe
Before nightfall on a summer day in 1961, a group of children were playing by the river in Lijiaba, Chongqing. Behind them were their homes and crops on a large terrace. A strange object by the riverbed aroused their interest.
It was an age-old short bronze sword.
Houses
China has the world´s largest population. It is currently 1.3 billion, with over a third living in urban areas. This makes housing an urgent social concern. In the past two decades, state housing has undergone profound changes. These have affected people´s living conditions and outlook.

The Snows and China
Back in 1920s, a lot of young Americans were having a romantic ambition with literature, and travelled to France to pursue their dreams. Helen Foster, a girl of beauty and talent in her early 20s, however, made up her mind to come to China after reading reports written by Edgar Snow on this ancient land.
