This morning on Monday the long-awaited approval of the Anti-secession Law by the 10th national people鈥檚 congress and the ensuing press conference by Premier Wen Jiabao applied a joint finishing touch to the ten-day annual session of the country鈥檚 top legislature. Premier Wen Jiabao says that this law is not a law of war and neither does it target 23 million Taiwanese people. He says so long as there is a glimmer of hope, the mainland will not give up the efforts at peaceful reunification.
But how shall we look at the law鈥檚 implications for the regional peace and stability and the resumption of the cross-strait negotiations? Joining us in the studio is Mr. Xu Shiquan, former director Institute of Taiwan Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
