With more than 60 percent of China鈥檚 total population living in rural areas, policies concerning rural reform and development have always been the focal point. After more than two decades of reform and opening up, China鈥檚 rural development has entered a stage of becoming well-off, while great changes have also taken place in rural education.
However, the availability and affordability of rural compulsory education still face huge challenges, such as: difficulties in schooling, high dropout rates, poor education quality, just to name a few.
How shall we tackles these challenges and eventually let better education serve the well-off of the Chinese rural population?
