Lead-in:
This is a special program to select Person of the Year 2004. Selecting Man of the Year may not be as easy as what the candidates appear to be. We have different standards, for example, to judge the value of the candidates, ranging from public perception, popularity, social influence, to tangible contributions to the development of the country. Whatever the shades of differences, there is at least one thing in common. Our selection work aims to project a good image of the country, or to indicate the trend of China's development. To take a closer look at the depth of this work, we're pleased to have Miss Tian Wei, producer and host from CRI, or China Radio International, and Professor He Jiahong from Renmin University, and Professor Hou Yiling from Beijing Foreign Studies University.
