The Future of Television

Kevin J. Martin: commissioner of Federal Communications Commission

Liu Feifei:

One of my fondest memories of childhood is the arrival in my family of our first television set. The year was 1978. The place was Beijing. And our little black and white television set was the first in our neighborhood. Now almost 30 years later there are 340 million households in China with television sets. And the number continues to grow.

Indeed, television is big business. And the foreign companies know it. First they sold us TV set. Then they sold us their movies and television shows. Now they are here with the cables, satellites and digital television, all of which propose to revolutionize the television industry, as you know it.

Joining me on this edition of Dialogue, we are very honored to have Mr. John J. Sie, he's a founder and chairman of Stars on Core Group. And we are also honored to have Mr. Kevin J. Martin, who is a commissioner with the United States Federal Communications Commission.
