It's April, and that means it must be time for the Tribeca Film Festival. Co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal sat down with the media on Monday, to talk about how an idea borne from the 9/11 attacks is now an established event on the film festival circuit.

Rosenthal thinks the festival can once again help New Yorkers cope with the difficult economic climate, just as it did after the terror attacks devastated lower Manhattan in 2001.

Co-founders Jane Rosenthal said, "Our mission always remains the same, and that is to bring people back downtown and to show audiences the widest group of films from a diverse group of filmmakers. But especially this year, in a time of uncertainty, we hope that we can add a little inspiration and hope and confidence by screening some terrific films."

Woody Allen's "Whatever Works" kicks off the festival on April the 22nd. It's the director's first movie shot in Manhattan since he left the island for a series of films set in Europe, including "Match Point", "Scoop", "Cassandra's Dream" and "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".
