Taoyuan Village in Taidong County is where the Bunun Tribe has lived for generations. Local villagers have a tradition of welcoming guests from far away with their unique ballads.
Their songs, echoed by the mountains, are sung polyphonically in eight-part harmony. The songs are believed by the Bunun tribe to pay tribute to nature and good harvests.

The Bunun people are also known for their valiancy. In the ancient times, the male Bunun usually held parties after a fruitful hunting, and drank alcohol to honor their ancestors.
Today, there are around 40-thousand members of the Bunun tribe in Taiwan. The Bunun people are embracing social changes with their hospitality, while at the same time remembering their age-old traditions.
