Starting next year, any toys in six categories without the "China Compulsory Certification," or "3C," will be banned. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine made the announcement on Tuesday.
The six categories are children's bikes, electric toys, plastic toys, metal toys, shooting toys and dolls. Toys that fall into these categories and do not have "3C" will not be allowed to be produced, sold or imported.
Statistics show that the six categories currently account for 40 percent of the toy market. There are about 2000 toy manufacturers in China. Three-quarters of them have their "3C."
