Millions of Afghans are preparing for the country's presidential election, set to take place on Thursday. Polling equipment and ballot boxes have been loaded onto trucks and shipped across the country.

President Hamid Karzai is currently leading in polls against three dozen other candidates. There are fears of post election violence if losing candidates allege massive voter fraud. More than 100,000 coalition troops and 175-thousand Afghan forces have been deployed to ensure security in the country.
