On October 10th, Documentary will present you with a series of features centering round West China. Consisting of six provinces, five autonomous regions and one municipality directly under the Central Government, West China takes up 69% of the total land area and 29% of the total population of China. Due to natural and historical reasons, the economic development of West China has not been as rapid as that of other parts of China. Upon the coming of the new millenium, the Chinese CentralGovernment made a strategic decision of shifting the nation's economic development center to West China, which gives this land of hope new opportunities as well as new challenges.
