Few would deny that the name of Juan Antonio Samaranch is closely linked with the development of modern Olympic movement. As the seventh President of the International Olympic Committee, he gets highly credited for promoting women’s participation in the Olympic Games, advancing reforms of the IOC and so on. Perhaps partly due to his personal efforts, Beijing was able to win the bid for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. But he is controversial somehow. To have a clearer picture of this 83-year-old Spaniard, we are honored to have him in our program during his recent stay in Beijing.
