The American movie of Out of Africa portraits a romance of a couple of westerners very beautifully. However, the real life of most Africans is different from the Hollywood movies, as we have discovered through the first-hand account of a western couple of years in our studio. Pamela Collett and her husband Jim Lindsay worked in Uganda, Somalia, and Kenya for a few years before they came living and working in Beijing. Now they have finished their work at Beijing Foreign Studies University and soon will leave for Uganda again. Before the departure, we will share with them their experiences in East Africa, particularly some of their philosophical interpretation about the style of African life and some of their values.
