Local official Serm Kongkhaoriep said:“Following the tsunami, the number of peak season tourists was around 70 percent of pre tsunami levels. Now more tourists are on the beach everyday. I'm convinced and confident that with the help of local people, the hotel owners, the private sector, the government, and everybody, that tourism here will return to normal.”

The sign says, "back to paradise". This is the promise made by the people of this little island. It shows their courage and determination to rebuild from the very beginning.

Many of the tsunami survivors, lost their families, jobs and everything they owned. But they haven't lost hope.
