It was a proud day for the Thai people on June 9th this year. About one million people wearing yellow T-shirts gathered at Bangkok's Royal Plaza to see their king on the palace balcony. There was cheering, silent reverence, and weeping.

It was a rare public appearance for the king. He used this chance to call for unity among the Thais.
King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej said:"I want all Thais to strictly uphold morality in their hearts and pass it on so that peace and happiness will be with the nation now and in the future."
