Palestinian and Israeli security officials have decided to establish joint operation offices to facilitate the access of international observes to the presidential election on Sunday, Palestinian sources said Saturday.

There would be two joint operation offices in the Palestinian territories, one is in the Israeli army command headquarters near Ramallah, and the other is at the Erez Crossing on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, the sources said.

An Israeli army spokesman said earlier that the Israeli army would pull out of towns and villages on the eve of the election for 72 hours.

The Israeli army would remove checkpoints and roadblocks and minimize the number of Israeli army patrols in the Palestinian territories, the spokesman said.

Palestinian police forces can carry light arms and each election center would have two armed police officers, the spokesman said.
