| First post－SARS overseas travel group arrives in Shanghai |

People in Shanghai have given a warm welcome to some special visitors to the city. The tour group, made up of French university students, is the first to travel to Shanghai after the SARS outbreak. One of the highlights of their stay was a visit to one of the city's parks.
Perhaps the scenes of people waltzing in a public park may have surprised some of the students. But the French tourists soon felt at ease, and were able to join in the fun. Amateur Peking Opera singers and folk－dancers wielding red silk ribbons gave them a more traditional Chinese form of entertainment. The dancers gave the Paris students their first taste of Chinese dancing. Although the lyrics were probably beyond their grasp of the language, the tourists were also able to appreciate the music of Peking Opera.
Taking in the fresh air filled with the fragrance of lotus flowers, they said that spending summer in a foreign country is a charming experience.
