China's national entry-exit check points have discovered five SARS patients by taking body temperatures for 12.48 million travelers in April and May.
Of those travelers, 3,826 registered abnormal body temperatures and 395 were referred to hospitals for further diagnosis.
Ge Zhirong, deputy director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), released the figures at a meeting held here Sunday between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on entry-exit quarantine SARS management.
Ge said China's quarantine measures had shown good results.
The measures included entry-exit health declaration systems, temperature screening and treating patients or possible patients when they showed SARS symptoms.
AQSIQ is in charge of national entry-exit quarantine work, supervising 598 quarantine checkpoints in China's 359 ports, airports, and railway stations. It also set up 127 health care centers to serve entry-exit tourists across the nation.
