Around 100 SARS patients have been transferred into the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital and Youan Hospital. The two facilities are both officially designated to treat SARS cases.

On Thursday afternoon, the Friendship Hospital transferred more than 50 SARS patients already in the facility to the newly refurbished SARS wards. Late at night, thirty patients from eight other hospitals in the capital city were moved into the hospital's special wards. Each patient was accompanied by at least one medical staff according to their physical condition. Before receiving the first influx of SARS patients, doctors thoroughly studied files on each patient. After ten days of renovations, the hospital is now ready for 400 patients at a time.

Today, Beijing's Youan Hospital finished its renovation of ordinary wards four days ahead of schedule. After setting up air conditioners, disinfection facilities, air exhaust pipes, toilets and bathing facilities, the hospital now has 100 SARS beds. This morning, 40 SARS patients already in the hospital were transferred into them.
