HK takes measures in bid to prevent spread of SARS

    A survey from Hong Kong indicates that people there acknowledge the efforts the government has taken to prevent spread of SARS.

    Seventy percent of them said they were confident the disease could be treated, while 90 percent of them said they supported the government's decision to bar SARS patients from leaving Hong Kong during the quarantine period. Earlier, the Hong Kong Government announced new measures to try and prevent the spread of SARS. Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa said people who had close contact with SARS patients would be barred from leaving Hong Kong during the quarantine period with effect from Monday.
