Fewer SARS cases in Guangdong from April

    Eighty-six new cases of atypical pneumonia occurred in Guangdong province in the first 10 days of April, 40.7 percent less than the same period in March. According to the Guangdong Health Department, four patients died while 120 recovered and were discharged from hospital.

    In the provincial capital Guangzhou, SARS cases were relatively high, with 54 new cases in the same period, but still down 62.5 percent from the first 10 days of March. By April 10, the province had cured a total of 1,031 SARS patients with a recovery rate of 83.2 percent.
