Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi has met with top officials from the World Health Organization. Wu Yi thanked the WHO for its contribution to China's fight against SARS. The removal of Beijing from the list of SARS－affected areas marks a new beginning for the country.
Wu Yi also expressed appreciation of the WHO for their judgment of Beijing's SARS－prevention work. She says we must remain on high alert to prevent a return of the epidemic. WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific Shigeru Omi has praised the SARS－prevention work that China has carried out. He says prompt information sharing has contributed a lot.
