The deputy director of China's National Statistics Bureau Qiu Xiaohua says China's economic growth rate will exceed 7 percent this year despite the negative impact of SARS.
Speaking on Tuesday at the "Cross－Strait Youth Forum" in China's southern city of Fuzhou, Qiu said the nation's economic growth rate will still be high for the first half of the year. He predicted that the next half year's economic growth will be very promising.
Economic growth will be driven by infrastructure investment and consumer spending.
