| Chinese scientists develop robotic medical assistant |

The Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a new kind of robot that can assist doctors and nurses in certain aspects of their daily jobs. The remote－control robot can also be used to transmit information in locations that are not easily accessible, or even dangerous, for humans.
The robot is half－a－meter high and can transport as much as thirty kilograms. The new invention is fast too －－ capable of reaching a maximum speed of two meters per second.
Operators can access nearly limitless video information through its built－in camera and transmission system. It also comes with an ultrasonic generator and an infrared sensor, enabling the robot to navigate spaces, to some degree, under its own capability.
At present, the Chinese Academy of Sciences is also developing a similar intelligent robot that will be capable of performing various services for family use.
