The Beijing Olympic organizing committee, or BOCOG, is speeding up most of its work, even though the committee has decided to postpone the release of the official emblem and part of planned marketing activities due to the SARS outbreak.

A feasibility study on the bird's nest-like National Stadium was held Friday among construction experts from China and overseas. This is the first high-ranking seminar on Olympics-related construction projects since the outbreak of SARS.

Officials from the committee are confident the construction projects will be carried out as scheduled.

"What we are concerned about most at the moment is the construction of the facilities for the Games. I am glad that all the preparations have been going very well. There is no change in schedule for the construction projects," said Liu Jingmin, executive vice president of BOCOG

Liu said that even during the peak SARS, BOCOG did not stop working, and its coordination with the International Olympic Committee has been very smooth. By the end of the year, four construction sites including the National Stadium and National Swimming Center will begin construction as scheduled. The preparations for underground lines 4 and 10, and the special line for the Olympic Games are also underway.
