| China's northern border port in Heihe reopens |

One of the important border crossings in China’s northeast Heilongjiang Province restarted operations on Monday. The decision to reopen the Heihe Port came after a meeting between the local government and the Amor state administration of Russia.
Due to the outbreak of the SARS epidemic on the Chinese mainland, the border crossing was temporarily suspended. Since May, Russia had been sending various experts and official delegations to investigate the situation in Heihe.
Now, travel agencies on both sides of the border have gone back to work. The Russian government has also agreed to allow tour groups to visit Chinese provinces not affected by SARS.
