A cross-Straits seminar on the prevention of SARS by Chinese medicine was held Sunday morning. The China Association for Chinese Medicine, or CACM, organized the tele-conference, where Chinese medicine experts from Beijing, Guangzhou and Taipei held a discussion, without meeting face to face.

The CACM says the mainland has been paying close attention to the SARS situation in Taiwan. It also said the seminar will improve cross-Straits collaboration on SARS prevention and treatment with Chinese medicine, which has been playing a role in the fight against the epidemic. Experts in Beijing faxed prescriptions for eight Chinese medicines to their counterparts in Taipei. The Taipei side hopes to have more opportunities to exchange ideas on Chinese medicine with their mainland colleagues. The latest news shows another 12 Taiwanese people have died of SARS.
