| Chinese mainland to assist Taiwan island in battle against SARS |

The Chinese mainland has expressed its willingness to assist Taiwan in its fight against SARS. The epidemic has been becoming increasingly urgent on the island.
The aid would include medical equipment and staff. A Shanghai company is working around the clock to make 100,000 N－95 masks designated for Taiwan.
The order is so urgent the company has had to postpone production for other customers. The workers say they are happy to help their Taiwan compatriots and hope the island will soon be free of SARS.
