The World Health Organization's decision to lift travel advisory to Hong Kong and Guangdong has been warmly received by people in the two places.

It was a happy Tung Chee-hwa who welcomed the lifting of the WHO's advisory against travel to Hong Kong on Friday.

Tung Chee-hwa,the Hong Kong SAR chief executive, expressed his appreciation to the central government and all Hong Kong citizens for their support and efforts in the past two months.

Tung Chee-hwa says Hong Kong must keep fighting the epidemic until the WHO removes the SAR from the list of affected areas.

The sentiment was shared in the mainland's Guangdong province. Travel agencies went back to work.

Creative travel agents are introducing new itineraries, such as tours to forests and beaches, encouraging people to get back to nature.

The agencies are also taking measures to ensure the safety of tourists and to prevent the disease from spreading again.

With tourists saying they feel safe traveling in the province now, analysts predict Guangdong's tourist trade will recover in the coming months.
