Friday was a day for Hong Kong's citizens to celebrate, as the World Health Organization lifted its warning against all but essential travel to Hong Kong SAR and Guangdong Province. Life in Hong Kong has been returning to normal as the SARS situation improve. And the good news has greatly boosted people's confidence in the region's economy.

Home for too long? Time to have fun again. At Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong's bar and food street, locals and foreigners alike showed up to celebrate the lifting of travel warnings to the region.

From late March to early April, when SARS was rampant in the region, business for restaurants in Lan Kwai Fong dropped by as much as 30 percent. Now, restaurant managers are only too happy to see customers coming back.

Kavin Chan, operations manager of Lan Kwai Fong Entertainments, said, "Tonight in the bars and restaurants here, if you order drinks, you get two for one. I hope all of Hong Kong's catering business will do the same. "

The lifting of the warning is believed to be vital to the revitalization of the region's economy. The WHO issued the recommendation to consider postponing all but essential travel to Hong Kong and Guangdong on April the 2nd, in order to minimize the international spread of SARS.
