Having analyzed the transmission characteristics of SARS, Chinese researchers pointed out that sporadic outbreaks of the disease will continue despite a considerable fall in confirmed cases.

20 new cases were reported on the Chinese mainland in the 24 hours ending at 10 a.m. on Friday, a 90 percent decrease compared with the peak day. But researchers say that the SARS corona virus is very stubborn. Under normal temperatures, it can survive one to two days in the excrete of the affected people and two days on plastic surfaces.

According to the researchers even healthy people have a 60 percent chance of contracting the disease if they have any contact with the infection sources. Mutation of the SARS corona virus can further slow down research and development on the vaccine. Researchers warn that people should be still on high alert against the disease.
