| President Hu Jintao extends festival greetings to nurses |

 To mark International Nurses Day, which fell on Monday, Chinese President Hu Jintao extended his greetings to nurses nationwide. He particularly commended those on the frontline of the fight against SARS. The President is currently on an inspection tour of south－western China's Sichuan Province looking at SARS prevention efforts in the rural areas.
Hu Jintao went to the People's Hospital of Fushun County in Zigong City where he was provided with detailed information on SARS prevention in the hospital. The president also warned that prevention efforts should not slacken at present since there is still a danger of SARS spreading further.
He urged the medical workers to maintain the momentum to fight the deadly disease and build up a strong line of defense. The Chinese President expressed confidence that, with concerted efforts, the country is definitely able to win the fight.
