| Health Ministry: 75 new SARS cases, 12 deaths |

The Ministry of Health reports that in the 24 hours ending 10 am Monday, 75 new SARS cases had been confirmed on the Chinese mainland. 62 of these came from suspected cases. 41 people had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There were 12 new deaths.
According to the Ministry, the cumulative number of SARS cases on the Chinese mainland has risen to 5,013. Of these, 3,068 are receiving treatment at hospitals. It also says that, to date, a total of 1,693 SARS patients have recovered and been discharged, while 252 people have died.
In Beijing, 48 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, 39 from suspected cases. Seventeen people in Beijing recovered and were discharged from hospital, and nine died.
