Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa has visited the Luohu checkpoint, through which train travellers between the Special Administrative Region and the Chinese mainland pass. He says Hong Kong's number one priority at present is to lower the number of SARS cases.

The number of SARS cases reported in Hong Kong has been declining in recent days. The Chief executive says officials will discuss lifting the travel advisory on Hong Kong with the World Health Organization.

Tung Chee hwa says "We will discuss the details with WHO officials regarding the criteria of the lifting of the travel advisory on Hong Kong. But, our first priority is to lower the number of SARS cases. This is the determining factor in getting the recognition from the WHO."

Tung Chee hwa also visited other checkpoints, communities and hospitals on Saturday.

On the same day, Hong Kong's health chief acknowledged that the SAR government didn't respond quickly enough to the SARS outbreak because not enough was known about the disease.

Ten more new cases were reported on Saturday, following reports of 11 new infections each on Friday and Thursday. That's the lowest number in one day since statistics began in March.

SARS has sickened more than 16 hundred people in Hong Kong and killed 179.
