Military medical workers join Beijing's fight against SARS |

With the approval of Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission, 1,200 military medical specialists and workers have been transferred to SARS-designated hospitals in Beijing. The move aims to support Beijing's efforts to curb the spread of SARS.
Monday morning saw the first group of medical workers, 238, arrive at their post. The Central Military Commission demands that all local army units single out excellent medical specialists and workers to complete the mission.
On the spot where a temporary hospital is being built, all sorts of aid is on hand. About 6,000 medical apparatus are being installed, including moveable X-ray machines, respirators and electrocradiographs. Medical goods and medicine are all ready. Other supporting staff are expected to arrive in Beijing soon.
