| Aid to rural, poor areas for SARS prevention |

Premier Wen Jiabao presided over an executive meeting at the State Council on Wednesday on the fight against SARS. The central government has decided to set up a task force, known as the SARS Control and Prevention Headquarters of the State Council, to coordinate national efforts to combat the disease.
A 2－billion－yuan SARS fund will be set aside for SARS control and prevention in rural and poor areas. The money will also be used to finance urgent hospital upgrades in the west including the purchase of medical equipment and technological improvements.
