| Chinese mainland reports 2,158 SARS cases |

Latest figures on the SARS virus put the number of victims in the Chinese mainland at 2,158 by eight o'clock Monday evening. The Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 1,213 patients had left hospital upon recovery, and 97 had died.
In Guangdong Province, 1,330 cases have been reported. Among them, 1,137 have recovered and 48 have died. In Beijing, 588 cases were confirmed, 46 patients recovered and 28 died. In Shanxi Province, 141 cases were confirmed, 13 recovered and nine died.
Among the 159 newly reported cases Tuesday, 106 cases were in Beijing, 22 in Shanxi and 13 in Guangdong. Another eight provinces and the Tianjin municipality also reported new cases on Tuesday.
