| SARS covered by most of China's life insurance products |

Managers of many Chinese insurance companies have noted that SARS is covered by most policies offering compensation on hospitalization and death because liabilities are already listed in existing terms of such life insurance products.
According to incomplete statistics from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, or CIRC, there has already been six SARS related claim settlements nationwide, worth a total of over 30,000 yuan. According to CIRC, one commercial insurance company had already filed an application to it to launch a new SARS－related insurance product. Four other companies have expressed their wish to launch similar products. Sources from the CIRC say that these applications will be dealt with promptly.
