| Medical workers fight SARS in Guangzhou |

Over the past few months in Guangzhou city, medical workers at several major hospitals have been engaged in the battle against the SARS. Thanks to efforts, the spread of SARS is coming under control in the city. At the forefront is Doctor Zhao Ziwen of the Guangzhou No. One People's Hospital.
During the few weeks following the Spring Festival in early February, the Guangzhou No. Eight People's Hospital saw a peak in the number of SARS patients. To take care of the 170 patients, the doctors and nurses at the hospital worked around the clock. To relieve the situation, the city's health authorities allocated special personnel to the hospital.
As the chief physician at the Respiratory Disease Department of the Guangzhou No. One People's Hospital, Doctor Zhao Ziwen demanded to go to the No. Eight hospital, to relieve the shortage of personnel.
In spite of the news that some medical workers were exposed to the virus at work, Doctor Zhao Ziwen still remained in the wards day and night, caring for the SARS patients.
After returning to the Guangzhou No. One People's Hospital, Doctor Zhao Ziwen set up a special ward with the aim of taking care of those medical workers infected with the disease. He also worked out a set of quarantine procedures against the disease.
After several weeks of hard work, all the patients in the special ward have recovered and left the hospital. And not a single doctor under Zhao Ziwen was exposed to SARS.
