No hospital in the Chinese capital Beijing should turn away suspected severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) cases, and violators will be subject to punishment. An official of the working group on SARS control in Beijing confirmed this at a meeting on Saturday.
If a patient is confirmed as having SARS, the hospital responsible for the diagnosis is responsible for arranging for his or her immediate transfer to a designated SARS hospital.
