China has been stepping up its efforts to prevent the spread of SARS. The measures include disinfecting railway stations, air terminals, and shopping districts.

In Shanxi, Guangxi and Henan, Epidemic Emergency Response Leading Groups and a 24-hour zero case reporting system have been set up. Local authorities have also opened consultation hotlines, and distributed posters and leaflets on SARS prevention.

The airports in Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Zhengzhou have implemented comprehensive prevention and control plans, including the use of multiple disinfection methods, and screening stations in their first aid centers.

In Guangdong Province, education authorities have instituted ten measures to prevent SARS in schools, including giving students prevention prescriptions and daily checks for symptoms. Strict prevention measures have also been taken in areas with no reported cases of SARS.

In the provinces of Gansu, Hebei, and Heilongjiang, all transportation vehicles have been disinfected. Chongqing Municipality has set up screening stations in its main docks and railway stations, with medical professionals making rounds.
