| HK reports highest one－day SARS death toll |

Hong Kong has seen its highest single day death toll to date due to the disease. A statement jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong says 12 SARS patients have died, and 31 have been admitted to hospitals.
As of 1:00 pm Saturday, the total number of deaths was 81. 109 patients are receiving treatment in intensive care units. Most of the patients currently in hospital are showing positive responses to the new treatment protocol. 363 patients have recovered from SARS and have been discharged from public hospitals. 41 of them were discharged on Saturday.
The total number of patients admitted to public hospitals with SARS since March 12 is 1,358.
