Large numbers of recovered patients of the deadly SARS are showing their gratitude to the medical staff who took care of them, despite the risks involved.
Professor Deng Zide was among the first doctors to treat patients with SARS. Dr. Deng with Hospital attached to Sun Yat－sen University said, "The patient was in a critical condition when we started to work. There was only one thought in my mind at that moment, that is, we have to save the patient in spite of the difficulty."
To the medical personnel on the front line of the fight against SARS, the gratitude and happiness of a cured patient is the best reward. And they are well rewarded.
To protect those risking their lives to save patients, emergency measures have been taken in hospitals. And the Guangdong provincial government has decided to commend the medical personnel for the courage and devotion they have shown in the fight against SARS.
