SARS sees little impact on China's tourism industry |

Groups of tourists and business travelers continue to arrive in airports across major Chinese metropolises such as Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. Experts said the tourism Industry in China has not been severely affected by the SARS.
At Beijing Capital Airport, a group of visitors from The Netherlands has just arrived. The group is composed of 22 families, and each couple have brought their children.
Beijing travel agency staff said that there are many international business travellers still arriving in Beijing for conferences and business meetings. Capital Airport tourism Information Center staff said that every day there were many international flights arriving at the airport. On average, there are 80 flights per day, and each flight has a sightseeing group.
According to the latest statistics, in the first three months of this year the number of overseas tourists visiting Shanghai was around one million people. Tourists seem convinced that the city is a safe place to be.
In China's Western tourist hotspot city, Chengdu, tourists remain eager to visit significant sites and enjoy Chinese food.
China's tourism officials say that China is a safe place to visit, work and live. Tourists need not worry too much about SARS, because the government has taken effective measures to contain the spread of the epidemic.
