CPPCC sets up nine special subcommittees

    One day after the closing of the annual session of China's top advisory body, the newly elected members of the Standing Committee of the Tenth CPPCC National Committee have met to plot their work's future direction. The committee has also approved a decision to set up nine special sub-committees on the economy, human resources, the environment, and international relations. The meeting has also decided who will head these subcommittees. Newly elected Chairman Jia Qinglin of the CPPCC National Committee has urged the Standing Committee members to live up to people's expectations. The new chairman called on them to concentrate on the strategic task of building a comprehensive well-off society and to consider issues which are most concerned with people's livelihood.
