US President George W Bush says Washington will present a new UN Security Council resolution next week, stating that Iraq is not complying with UN disarmament demands.

Speaking at a joint press conference after meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Aznar at his Texas ranch, Bush also claimed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had no intention of disarming.

Bush said on Saturday that the new resolution was the last chance for the UN Security Council to show its relevance.

Bush said:"early next week working with our friends and allies we will introduce an additional Security Council resolution that will set out in clear and simple terms that Iraq is not complying with..."

The US president has vowed to bypass the United Nations and lead a coalition to disarm Iraq by force if necessary.

Spain's Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar expressed strong support for Bush's Iraq policy, saying Spain is ready to fight together with the US against weapons of mass destruction and terrorism.

Aznar is due to meet French President Jacques Chirac next week. France has led international calls to give more time to UN inspectors in Iraq, rather than resort to war.

Bush and top aides expect to contact the leaders of each Security Council member country in the coming days to lobby for the new resolution.
